Dodocool DC35, a new 7 in 1 USB-C Hub

With the increase in USB-C ports in laptops, Chromebooks, but also tablets and phones, we can see a clear uptake in the USB-C adoption. Manufacturers slowly start removing ports and replacing them by USB-C ones. To bridge the gap, and until the whole world is wireless, we unfortunately need solutions, and one of the most common solution is to use a USB-C hub or dock. USB-C hubs and docks provide a way to connect devices with new USB-C ports to connect with usually older peripherals, which do not come equipped with such a port. Think of your monitor, harddisks, USB sticks, etc.

So, Dodocool, the company known for it’s wide range of USB accessories, has released a new series of products to address some of the above issues. In this article we’ll focus on the Dodocool DC35, a name a little less imaginative than the company name, but which is a 7 in 1 multifunctional USB-C hub. And, as you might have noticed, we like USB-C hubs. The DC 35 comes equipped with 3 USB-A (3.0) ports, a VGA port, HDMI output, Ethernet output (1Gbs), and a USB-C port with Power Delivery (PD). Specs wise, it’s comparable to the Aukey CB-C55 USB-C Hub, but has 2 additional ports. It enables you to charge your devices using the PD port, while extending the capabilities of your device.

We can imagine that the Dodocool DC35 comes in handy in more traditional environments, like schools and offices, where the infrastructure might not be adapted to USB-C just yet. The DC35 is not made of aluminium, but of of ABS plastic. While this might make the look of the DC35 a little less appealing, it has a positive effect on the price of the device, making the DC35 currently available for less than $50.
