AnandTech reports on a new Dell monitor, the Dell UltraSharp U3818DW. It’s a curved 37.5” wide screen with a resolution of 3840×1600. Amongst its connections is USB-C, which makes it very interesting for the current crop of USB-C equipped laptops.
With a 110 PPI, one could ask why the UltraSharp moniker was applied to this monitor. However, let’s not be nitpicky: this is a great monitor for people who don’t need the high pixel densities of 4K and 5K screens, and really want the width. It’s not going to be gamers; this monitor does not support FreeSync or high sync rates so it’s mainly aimed at the business user. With that user in mind, we couldn’t find a slot for a Kensington lock. But to appeal, Dell increased the brightness to 350 cd/m² and an antiglare coating.
For gamers, AnandTech points to the Acer XR382CQK.
