PCWorld reviews the Dart USB-C

FINSIX 65W laptop chargerAn interesting review by PCWorld: they review the Finsix Dart USB-C. At 65W, it should be powerful enough to get through the day with any laptop.

They’re enthusiastic right until they hook it up to a Chromebook Pixel:
The Dart-C simply would not charge the Pixel if I plugged the charger in when the Chromebook was booted into the OS. Even worse, the Dart-C subsequently failed to work with any of the other laptops it had previously worked with. Initially I thought the charger had died. It wasn’t until I unplugged the cable from the charger’s body and then plugged it back in that the charger was revived. I could reproduce the “dying” repeatedly, and a second review unit from Finsix exhibited the same issue.

This sounds a bit scary to us. In the article, Finsix blames it on the Chromebook, which has long since been discontinued and was one of the first to implement USB-C. All other laptops tested out fine: Late 2016 13″ Apple MacBook Pro, Lenovo Yoga 910, Acer Swift 7, Dell XPS 13 2-in-1, HP Spectre x360 13t and Asus Zenbook 3,  and for good measure the smartphone Huawei Nexus 6P. The dart is currently available for pre-order in the USA and Canada and costs a cool US$ 99.
